Elementary Mentoring Mission: Elementary Mentoring will improve SAT9 test scores by emphasizing reading comprehension skills in small group settings.

Elementary Tutoring provides 3rd, 4th and 5th graders with homework assistance in small groups.
Currently there are 5 Business Academy mentors and 120 student participants.
Mentoring is provided Monday-Friday, 3:00-6:00P.M. at Garfield Elementary School
East Bay Asian Youth Center (EBAYC) is the sponser |
Results: According to the Garfield Elementary Statistic, students who partcipated in the after programs general are those who score higher than other students who dont' attend the after school program. |

We will increased participation to include 30 Business Academy students to service 2 elementary schools and 1 middle school. |

Mission: Peer Tutoring will improve student performance in English with one-on-one assistance in reading and writing activities |

> 8 juniors and seniors serve as tutors |

> This service is provided Monday and Thursday, 3:15 - 4:45 P.M. in rom 3209 |
> Global Education Partnership is the fiscal agent who provides stipends for the youth tutors. A state grant funds the program. |

> 5 MIlls College and 2 California State University, Hayward (CSUH) students work in classrooms to offer students one-on-one help |
Mission: To increase enrollment at post secondary academic institutions |
> 20 seniors visited CSUH as a component of a college/highschool integrated project in English class |
> 25 seniors participated in an online integrated project with students from Diablo Valley Community College |
Results: 11 of the seniors applied to CSUH out of 20 |
> We will institutionalize a tutoring program and partnerships with Mills College, CSUH, and UC Berkeley's Latino Business Student Association |
> We will establish a network of alumni to serve as mentors |
